Internal Medicine Physician Joins Lock Haven Hospital as Hospitalist

Lock Haven, PA. January 26, 2008 – Lock Haven Hospital, in conjunction with Incare LLC. are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Pavan Kumar, Board-Eligible Internal Medicine specialist, to the Medical Staff.  Dr. Kumar will be serving as a full time Hospitalist delivering quality care to hospitalized patients.

A Hospitalist is a physician does not have an outpatient medical practice, they specialize in caring for patients in the hospital.  Most Hospitalists are general internal medicine physicians.  Additionally, some Hospitalists are trained as specialists such as pulmonary/critical care medicine, cardiology, and other subspecialties.   The hospitalist attends to patients in conjunction with the primary care physician and manages the routine and specialty care while the patients are hospitalized.  Upon discharge, the hospitalist communicates with the primary care to facilitate follow up treatment by the primary care physician.

Dr. Kumar recently completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Temple Residency Program, Scranton, Pennsylvania.  He previously trained at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Jacinto Medical Group in Baytown, Texas and completed an externship at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Kumar’s interests include tennis, cooking, and computers.  He and his wife and newborn child currently live in Scranton, Pennsylvania and are looking forward to relocating to the Lock Haven area.
