Lock Haven Hospital Announces Promotion
Lock Haven, PA. July 16, 2007 - Regina Barner who had been serving as Interim Director of Nursing (DON) since December 2006 has been officially selected as Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit’s DON.
Ms. Barner graduated in 1985 from St. Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania earning a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. She then came to Lock Haven Hospital to serve as a graduate nurse on the medical-surgical floor and pediatrics until 1987. Between 1987 and 2004 she worked at Divine Providence Hospital on the Urology floor and Pediatrics Unit. She then took a job with the home nursing agency, VNA. During her employment with that agency she specialized in visiting pediatric patients in their homes.
Eventually, Ms Barner felt a tug on her heart to work in Long Term Care. She took a position as a Nursing Supervisor at Centre Crest in Bellefonte, Pa. where she worked for 3 years to coordinate care of residents and provide supervision of staff. Ms. Barner was then offered an opportunity to return to the Lock Haven Hospital as a nurse manager of Extended Care first floor and she accepted in January of 2001.
Since that time, she has served Lock Haven Hospital and Extended Care Unit (ECU) as Assistant Director of Nursing for the ECU, and most recently received this promotion as the Director of Nursing for the ECU. She has been very satisfied in her tenure with the hometown hospital and enjoys serving the community in which she lives.
Ms. Barner is a resident of Rote where she lives with her husband of 18 years, Gary Barner and son Matthew.
