Lock Haven Hospital Celebrates HIPAA Awareness Week

Lock Haven – Lock Haven Hospital celebrated HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) with a patient privacy poster contest to reinforce the laws privacy regulations.

“We focus every day on protecting the private medical and personal information of all of our patients,” said Danny Mays, director of health information management, Lock Haven Hospital. “This contest helped us to reinforce the regulation throughout all of the hospital departments.”

The winning departments included: First Place; Radiology, Second Place; Nutrition, Third Place; Emergency Department.

“One of the real foundations of good healthcare is trust. Our patients entrust us with their most personal information and we take that trust very seriously,” said Cindy Segar-Miller, chief executive officer, Lock Haven Hospital. “The response to the training and this contest by staff throughout the hospital demonstrates the commitment at all levels to patient privacy.”
