You Can Achieve...Through Therapy At Lock Haven Hospital we offer a wide range of therapy services with the goal of assisting our patients in returning to a normal lifestyle as independently as possible following an illness or injury. Services available include Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy, as well as Phase II Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
The Therapy Team
When you are sidelined with an illness or injury waiting to get back to normal as you recover can be the most difficult part. Our talented and dedicated therapy team can help you get back to your normal lifestyle faster, by reducing, resolving or compensating for physical limitations. Our team will look at each aspect of your illness and work toward improving function to enable you to return to your maximum level of independence.
At Lock Haven Hospital we provide a full range of services including, acute care inpatient, long term care / rehabilitation and outpatient services.
As an inpatient or outpatient, you will be referred to the therapy department by your physician for treatment of various illnesses including, but not limited to: stroke, fractures, burns, sports injury, arthritis, back injury, heart attack, head injury and amputations.
Physical Therapy
Trained and dedicated Physical Therapists treat your illness or injury to enable you to achieve your highest functional level by helping to improve strength, regain motion, relieve pain and promote healing.
Specific pieces of equipment called modalities, which include; whirlpool, diathermy, hot and cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulators and T.E.N.S. may be used along with exercise and education to treat your injury.
As appropriate, the therapy team will also address skills required for return to gainful employment following injury or illness.
Occupational Therapy Trained
Occupational Therapists help patients achieve their greatest possible function in relation to their disability. Therapists work closely with individuals and are committed to helping them regain their independence. Patients are retrained in normal activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, cooking and many other household activities. Patients are trained and educated on the use of adaptive equipment and or compensatory strategies to improve function and independence.
Home evaluations are offered to inpatients prior to discharge in order to help identify any potential safety hazards, as well as to make recommendations to improve independence with daily activities on discharge.
Speech Therapy
The Speech Therapist is trained in the studying and treatment of speech, swallowing and cognitive disorders following an illness or injury. The Speech Therapist is dedicated to helping patients recover from an illness that has resulted in some form of difficulty in his/her ability to speak, swallow or complete cognitive activities.
Appointment times available are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
